31 Days of Five Minute Free Writes ~ Day 21: Start

It’s been a loooooonggg time since I’ve written here or participated in Five Minute Fridays, but here I am after receiving an email about the 31 Days of Five Minute Free Writes led by Kate Motaung. So the goal is to write for five minutes on the given writing prompt.

Time starts now:

Had a Facebook memory pop up today from my first biz event I attended, which led to me doing my first ever live video. Urrrggghhh… hate is such a harsh word, but that’s how I felt about it. It would really take me 10-15 minutes to prep myself before hitting the button. Saw my testimonial video and I was like wow, I’ve come a long way in a year. I remembered something I’ve heard many say: You don’t have to be perfect to start! (I think it’s more to that). Sometimes the biggest hurdle is simply just getting started, and when you do, you realize it wasn’t quite as bad as you’d thought. But even if it is, you keep practicing, which equals to progress.

Why is it so hard to start some things? For me it was fear of what others would think. It was moving beyond my comfort zone in the sense that I’d be inviting people into my world, so to speak. Sometimes we fear failure… times up… If you never START, you simply never know…
