30 Days of Giving Thanks ~ Day 4: The Losses

A favorite personal saying is, “There’s a blessing in ALL situations.” I was not feeling that on November 15, 2012 when I was let go from what I thought would be the final career path for me as a college instructor. My pockets took a hit, but honestly, it was more so my pride!!!! That was my biggest hurdle to overcome not to mention the emotional strongholds behind it. But had I NOT endured that loss, I might not have tapped into other skills, such as transcription and graphic/website design, OR become an author.
So there is indeed a Blessing in all situations, it’s just a matter of changing our perspective, thinking outside the box, and tapping into other gifts/talents/skills that were otherwise dormant.
I’m also remembering a sermon by Steven Furtick, “It Had to Happen”. What that and other losses gave me was a personal insight, greater compassion, and a heightened sensitivity to the needs of others experiencing a similar situation.
Is your current loss somehow tied to your calling so that you’re better able to minister to others?!? “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” ~James 1:2-4~
And many times a loss is simply the opening for something greater!!!
