30 Days of Gratitude: Day 18

30 Days of Gratitude: Day 17

The first thought that comes to mind is people/relationships. It’s a daily choice to remember NOT to take someone for granted. Show of appreciation doesn’t have to always be grand. A simple ‘thank you’, a tight hug, or kiss on the cheek goes a long way.

When it comes to things/situations, during your time of self-reflection, it’s good to consider what happened during your day from the time you awoke till the time you decided to wind down for the night. What made you smile? What did you not handle well that you make a mental note to be mindful of next time?

You know… We have so many people and things to be thankful and appreciative for even in the midst of all the craziness, the violence, the hatred… Take time each night to reflect on the goodness of God, to acknowledge how good you have it, even still!!!

30 Days of Gratitude, Day 2

Good Evening,

To have an attitude of gratitude is to be thankful for all things, big or small, good or not so good. It’s to remain in a spirit of humility as you acknowledge it could be worse.

But ALWAYS!!! Can anyone ALWAYS be something? I stand to be corrected, but may I encourage you to keep a mindset of thinking on something before reacting. In other words, for a snippet, for a moment, you may forget to have an attitude of gratitude, as this is a process!!! Sometimes you might have to “woosah” your way into an attitude of gratitude. And in those moments, Thank God for growth!!!

Ready to BE ACCELERATED INTO PURPOSE, but feeling stuck, complacent, less than, hidden…

31 Days of Five Minute Free Writes ~ Day 11: Door

It’s been a loooooonggg time since I’ve written here or participated in Five Minute Fridays, but here I am after receiving an email about the 31 Days of Five Minute Free Writes led by Kate Motaung. So the goal is to write for five minutes on the given writing prompt.

Time starts now:

Ohhhh, I love this word, ‘door’. So many things to pull from this. You can be the door that opens up to an opportunity for someone else. In other words, you’re their blessing, their answered prayer. Maybe you’re the door that closes on someone when you realize that they no longer have a place in your space, OR, what you have to offer… they’re not ready to receive. Delayed blessing.

On the other hand… recently head a sermon from Pastor John Gray called “Get the Door”. Maybe God has an open door for you, but you’re trying to take people through it with you that are not meant to go with you. There are many doors with your name on it, but as long as we limit ourselves, we never get to experience the joy of opening them, and seeing what God has in store. We all have a door and we’re a door for someone else. We all have to get in position in order for the next to receive. Are you willing to walk through your door, so you can open another door for someone else? (23 seconds left… )

First Year A Success!!!

One year ago yesterday, I took a step of faith into an unknown territory with no idea of what was to come, no specific structure, no specific guidelines, or manual… Through the favor of God, creativity, a LOT of determination, and willingness to learn, I joined thousands of other entrepreneurs and self-employed professionals. It wasn’t necessarily planned, but more of a one-foot-in-front-of-the-other, day-by-day progression.

Doors that I thought should open didn’t and my degrees did not win me any special treatment. But what I did have was a clean slate and three choices: Do, Settle, or Don’t….

Well, “don’t” was an automatic cross-out. So “Do” or “Settle”— I could settle, BUT wait a minute now, what are my “DO” options? My spirit is saying “work for self”. That’s a possibility….. But WHAT ON EARTH will I do? My answer came January 31, 2013 and for the next five months I researched, I read, I created, I designed, I weighed options, I brainstormed. I sat, I waited, I put in the work. On June 30th, I got my first freelance gig doing data entry for a client through Shopify (adding images, product descriptions, making price changes).

But I noticed the opportunities for transcription and even though I had never done this before, had no idea what all it really entailed other than “type what you hear”, I applied and I remember my first project taking me literally 24 hours to complete one audio (30-60 minutes, don’t remember which). Yeah, I had no idea what I was doing…..

One year later, most of my VA work is transcription with over 200 audio hours completed, averaging 5 audio hours a week, sometimes way more.

So what is my title?
ALS (academic, life, spiritual) Coach, VAS (Virtual Administrative Specialist)

What EXACTLY does that mean?
As a Coach, I listen, I empower, I encourage, I inspire, I CHALLENGE!

As a VAS, I provide virtual (online) services to other entrepreneurs, businessmen/women, authors, other coaches, pastors as an organizer, transcriber, personal assistant, typist, event coordinator, and the list goes on.

How do I work?
From home!

How did I do my first year?
Over 100 jobs via 3 freelance platforms, 50+ clients, overall rating of 4.91 and 5 figure earnings (*not 9-5 earnings just yet, let me make that clear).

No, the process has not been easy, but every late night, early morning, 2 hour cat naps here and there and everything else has been well worth it.

So by the grace of God, praying Year 2 will be even better.

Words of Encouragement:
1. A lot of doors will close, rejections will come, but if you still have breath, you still have a purpose, and there’s an opportunity with your name on it. Doors close because it’s not what God has for your,  it’s purpose has been fulfilled, or maybe you’re not in the right position just yet to enjoy the full blessings of the opportunity.
2. Some days things will go as planned, but most often not. Don’t worry, don’t fret, it’s just a test to teach you how to be flexible and adaptable and roll with the punches. (Have a little faith)
3. Sometimes those you thought would support you won’t and that’s okay, because there will be new supporters. Trust me, the right people will come along at the right time.
4. We all have a role in life and in some way our role in life is needed for someone else to fulfill theirs. So you are no less or no more than the next because we are ALL needed.
5. What this 1st year has reminded me is that “God does not call the qualified, he qualifies the called” Many of the jobs I’ve taken on, specifically VA-related, I would not be qualified to do by “9-5” standards, as many were learned and self-taught per client needs. My degrees are in CJ and Psychology, not business management, but yet, here I am. I didn’t study to be a Coach, it’s already who I am.

ANYTHING is possible with God. He will protect you wherever He leads you! Everybody will not understand your path, sometimes not even you, so be careful where you put your expectations!

Hopefully this will bless someone who has been considering a change. You can’t see the road ahead, and there is no light to be seen at the end of the tunnel, (but it’s there). If you’re concerned about what others will think, that is your first mistake. There are no real obstacles, but a fear of the unknown, and that’s all about YOU! Since “don’t” is not an option, you now have two choices: “Do” or “Settle”! (and if you settle, you surrendered to the wrong person/thing. Even more so, you’ve doubted your Creator and who you Can Be)………

I’m hoping to bless someone else who has been strongly considering working from home on a full-time or part-time basis by helping you get set up on different platforms and guiding/coaching you through the process. And no, this is not something you’d have to pay for. Just willing to help a couple of people who are serious about freelance opportunities, but not sure of the ins and outs or how to get started.  So if that’s you, contact me here or below to further discuss.

Be Blessed!!!

Five Minute Friday: “Lost”

Looking for a reason to write but not sure where to start? Join me and hundreds of others in Five Minute Fridays started by Lisa Jo-Baker. The key is to write for five minutes based on Lisa-Jo’s prompt “No extreme editing; no worrying about perfect grammar, font, or punctuation. Unscripted. Unedited. Real.”

So here we go: “Lost”

There was a time in my life when I was lost to the world, lost to myself, lost to the need for attention and affection. There was a time when I was lost to sexual immorality, not truly realizing my worth or even who I was in God.

On a new road of transformation, after being tired of being sick and tired, after being tired of temporary gratifications, that really weren’t gratifying at all, I began to seek solace from the words of Bishop T. D. Jakes (“Naked and Ashamed”) and Joyce Meyers (“Battlefield of the Mind”)….

Once lost in a darkness of filth and just – there’s no other way to describe it, I came to realize my true worth, I came to realize, and BELIEVE that I was a Daughter of the Most High who saw me in a different light and it was my time to see it as well.

Once I found that compass to lead the way, I found myself on a new path, a new belief, a new challenge.

lost

The After Five: That new challenge was to practice abstinence, not just because it was the right thing to do, the safe thing to do, the spiritual thing to do…. Here’s my belief… or philosophy I should say. It takes more than a belief to stay on the right path. Behind that belief should be some type of conviction, some type of purpose or reason that is STRONG enough to remind you when temptation comes why it’s not worth it. I’ve found that, and had to teach myself this as well, you can believe something all day, but without a reason behind it, your reason, (not someone else’s), you are easier to fall prey to your strongholds.

A couple of things that help me to abstain, my reasons:

1. When I meet Mr. Right, I don’t want to be asked that “question” for which my answer would be yesterday, last week, last month or whatever.

2. Until I meet my physical husband, in a way God is my husband and if I’m a believer of fidelity, then this is my test.

3. Not willing to settle anymore for temporary fixes

4. I think about myself as an example to others, what I teach or advise others (acting on that which I ‘preach’)

For me, these reasons are my Strong Convictions.  Yours might be different.

There are many ways to be lost to the world: sex, drugs, possessions… We all know this, we’ve experienced most of them, whether directly or indirectly and have seen the hurt, the pain that is caused, but what many people don’t have is a support system, a reason why, or a way out…

As a coach, one of my desires is to reach those who are Lost, to shed new light, to encourage, empower, and guide. If that person is you and you are feeling bound, wanting to break free, feel free to contact me here (no catch or further obligation).

Another thing I found is with confession, comes freedom, comes PEACE!

Have a Blessed and Safe Weekend All!
