Five Minute Friday: “Glue”

Looking for a reason to write but not sure where to start? Join me and hundreds of others in Five Minute Fridays started by Lisa Jo-Baker. The key is to write for five minutes based on Lisa-Jo’s prompt “No extreme editing; no worrying about perfect grammar, font, or punctuation. Unscripted. Unedited. Real.”

So here we go: “Glue”

Well, the first thing that comes to mind when I see this word is family. We all have that one person that (of course depending on your family dynamics) is the glue that holds everyone together. It’s all good as long as they’re here, present in this world. It’s all good—we all have that one person that is the reason for family gatherings, that helps to keep the peace. But again, that’s all while they are present.

But when they’re gone… Here’s what I want others to ponder that are in that position. You are the glue that holds your family together.

Please give them something that they can hold on to beyond your existence. Something of value that reminds them that this is what family is all about. Give them something that will bind them together even when you’re not here.

I wonder if families have these type of conversations. Because when the glue is gone… Wow! You’d be surprise[d] [at] how things are handled.

So again, if you are the glue to your family, talk to your family members. Give them nuggets of wisdom about the importance of family and not letting anything come between them, no matter what.

28 Days of Self-Reflection, Day 28: Endurance

28 DoSR_28_Endurance

I truly hope something shared throughout this month brought about a revelation(s) that helped to bring a personal TRUTH to the forefront. It would “almost” be nice to be perfect, but even that comes with a price. We all deal with situations that we never thought we’d endure or wish we didn’t have to go through. Some days are good and some not so good.

But somehow we muster enough faith and trust when we open our eyes to a new day to say,

“Lord, I still thank you. Lord, I still praise you.”

However weighed down, we find enough strength to rise up from whatever we laid on for the night, we stand, and to God we say,

“Okay. Let’s Go!”

My only consolation to anyone going through something that leaves you uncertain about your future is that each day you awake brings hope. If your breakthrough didn’t come today, God willing, there’s tomorrow. Just know that each day you awake is a sign that God is not through with you yet.

Love and Blessings,

Koko

Isaiah 41:10

Isaiah 41_10

Don’t be afraid for I am with you:

  • A new day and new week. Did you spend the weekend worrying or anticipating something this week? I challenge you to awake each morning in prayer (we often forget this in such times) asking that God go before you to remove whatever obstacles are set in place and to make the path straight for you to fulfill your obligations of the day.

Don’t be discouraged for I am your God:

  • How sweet to be reminded of God’s unmistakable power, that he is a Father that never leaves his child even when we leave him. He is not only our God and Father, but our  Mother, Friend, Confidant, Counselor, Doctor, Lawyer, and whatever you need him to be.

I will strengthen you and help you:

  • What situations are you facing that have you second guessing your ability to succeed? Feeling weak from giving to someone or something and you are now drained of energy? Or maybe you are barely holding on and not sure how you will make it through the week, how you will care for your family, or how a bill will be paid. In our weakest moments, we tend to lose words, but God is happy to receive a heartfelt, “Thank you Jesus.” “Lord I need you.” “Lord, my God.” Or “Have Mercy on Me.” Our weakest moments can be moments of revelations. In some ways, it is a sign that we need to be still to hear what God has to say.

I will hold you up with my victorious right hand:

  • Simply put, We are MORE THAN CONQUERORS!!! With God for us, nothing or no one can stand against us.

Be blessed my friends. These are simple reminders, as we often forget how powerful God is and that it is okay to relinquish control over to him. TRUST!!!
